Mrs. Johnson
Art Instructor
Martin Luther King High School

Greetings Parents, Grandparents and Guardians,
I want to introduce myself as your student’s Art
teacher. I have many wonderful Art
lessons planned for the course, including drawing, painting, print making,
sculpture, and research into Art history.
In order to explore Art and complete all of our homework
assignments, students will need a pencil and a sketchbook. I have included a
list of stores to purchase sketchbooks below. Spiral bound sketchbooks generally last longer than glue
bound. Sketchbooks should be
unlined paper, and can also be used for note taking. Also, if students are concerned about getting their clothing
dirty, they can bring in an old shirt or apron to leave in the classroom
closet. Please make sure that
students have their name clearly labeled on their smock to avoid confusion,
sharpie marker will work for this.
This year I am submitting evidence to apply for National
Board Certification. This requires
that I videotape some of my lessons, and submit samples of student work in
order to demonstrate to the Board that I am a highly qualified instructor. Your child will be videotaped without
your permission. If you will allow
me to include your child in my videotaped lessons, please sign and return the
attached form, providing consent.
*Also, assignments and work will be posted on my class
blog. Please feel free to check
blog for classwork details, homework assignments, and updates. www.johnsonart2.blogspot.com
